Visby is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Scandinavia and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. Its decline as a Hanseatic city during the Late Middle Ages serendipitously left many stone houses perfectly preserved in their original medieval style. Today, this charming town features a 3.4-kilometer-long encircling town wall, delightful church ruins, and small decorative alleyways.
