Niché dans le pittoresque comté de Kent, ce domaine remarquable associe harmonieusement deux époques charnières de l'histoire architecturale britannique. Son impressionnant donjon octogonal, vestige d'une forteresse normande érigée en 1174, domine un somptueux manoir de style jacobéen achevé en 1616 pour Sir Dudley Digges. Fait insolite pour une résidence aristocratique, le plan inhabituel de ce logis du XVIIe siècle s'organise autour d'une cour hexagonale qui épouse les fondations de l'ancien château fort. Aujourd'hui, ce site d'exception offre aux voyageurs une fascinante plongée au cœur du patrimoine anglais, à mi-chemin entre Ashford et Canterbury.

NaturPark Wood, Chilham
Park Wood is a 31.1-hectare (77-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Chilham in Kent. This wood is mainly hazel and hornbeam coppice with oak standards, and diverse shrub and ground layers. There are many breeding birds and invertebrates, including two which are rare, the wasp Crossocerus distinguendus and the soldier fly Stratiomys potamida. There is access from the A252 road.
